EVAN MARCUS

From an early age, Evan Marcus has been heavily influenced by music through both sides of his family. At 15 Evan started his pursuit into the world of electronica by listening and gaining inspiration from greats such as Aphex Twin, Beethoven, BT, Chemical Brothers, David Bowie, Moby, Pink Floyd, John Digweed, Paul Van Dyk and Paul Oakenfold to name a few. In 1996 Evan began experimenting with various synths and hardware such as the Alesis QS6, Roland JP-8080, Roland MC-303, & Korg Electribe. Working with different hardware and software combinations helped Evan to experiment with a variety of sounds and musical elements which in turn helped form a ruthless addiction people call "being an artist".

In 1997 Evan picked up his first decks, 2 Technic SL1200-M3D’s and a rusty old mixer. From there Evan’s first djing experiences took place from bedrooms to attics and eventually migrated to house parties and underground festivals. Between the years of 1997-2000, Evan started producing music with future label partner Dirk Bajema under a variety of different aliases like Acid Revolution, Sonic Theory and D Bajema & Evan Marcus .

In 2002, Evan’s track entitled " Ten Feet From Heaven" gained major attention from multiple big name labels and djs. Jonathan Lisle and Chris Fortier were the first to support it. 12" promos were pressed and sent out to a handful of industry professionals. Shortly after doing that, "Ten Feet From Heaven" was played by John Digweed on KISSFM.

Remix opportunities have opened up since then and it has given Evan the ability to bring new material to the table and define his sound. Evan’s unique style is getting more and more recognized in each new production. "Music is my psychiatrist," says Evan. "Making music based on my life situations has helped relieve a lot of tension. Music is how I express myself, whether through good times or through bad." Evan is currently busy in the studio working hard on new material and has multiple releases due out in 2009 and beyond.

Besides producing, Evan is also focused on Hunya Munya Records which he started with fellow producer & audio genius Dirk Bajema. Like so many others, the co-producers of 6 years, wanted to create their own trademark foundation on which to release quality music. The time span has developed into not featuring an immense quantity of tracks, but those only of sheer quality; those that "blow you away" creating an everlasting impact with the ear that caters for such a sound.

With electronic music becoming a huge part of their lives, they wanted to put something back into the industry that had shepherd' them to this stage of knowledge and understanding. Support has been increasing internationally, which has help raise the profile from back-street to forefront.
